My report

I can't sleep, which really sucks right now....

but here's my report on the New Year's Eve 12 I started in September:

03. D&C in order by end of 2009 - 30 Dec 2009
13. finish Lapghan - 20 Nov 2009
15. origami-a-day calendar (from 2005) - 22 Sep 2009
19. Wash and frame Elyssa's birth record
20. Bookbag for Elyssa - 31 Dec 2009
39. Dejunk Conservatory
53. Dejunk my closet - 5 Sep 2009
60. Donations to ARK 12 times (only one more to go!) - 14 Sep 2009
87. Finish Taran's birth Record
88. Wash and frame Taran's birth record
91. Rewrite Haunted
100. Nanowrimo - 30 Nov 2009

So.

I just need to iron Elyssa's birthrecord, and then get a frame.

I talked to Scott about the conservatory; if it doesn't get done this weekend (taking the tree down), it'll get done next weekend.

I made major progress on finishing Taran's birth record, but didn't finish it, so sbviously, it won't be washed and framed.

My rewrite of Haunted will happen next month. I'm going to start on it tomorrow.

The things I didn't finish are still closer than they would have gotten if I hadn't set the goals, so I'm pretty pleased with this. I'm going to take a look at my other goals remaining, and see if I can put together a plan to get them done in a reasonable time.

Wish me luck!

By all rights, I should have updated this... in May. The 6th, in fact. But I hate the format, and right now I'm procrastinating all the OTHER stuff I should be doing (including a nap - I tried, but no luck). So. Here it is.

My 101 in 1001 update for the third part of my 1001 days. )

Okay.

I tried this two year ago, and it failed. BIG TIME.

But. I'm giving myself four months this time, and I have hopes that I can actually do this. I'll try to add in the goals for the month to help me get through these.

What is this?

This is the New Years Eve 12: twelve goals I want to finish by the end of the year. I took them from my current 101 in 1001, and I think I have a good chance of actually doing them. The original post is here - and as of right now is a bit out of date - but I really hate updating it. the format sucks.

So, the goals:

03. D&C in order by end of 2009
13. finish Lapghan - 20 Nov 2009
15. origami-a-day calendar (from 2005) - 22 Sep 2009
19. Wash and frame Elyssa's birth record
20. Bookbag for Elyssa
39. Dejunk Conservatory
53. Dejunk my closet - 5 Sep 2009
60. Donations to ARK 12 times (only one more to go!) - 14 Sep 2009
87. Finish Taran's birth Record
88. Wash and frame Taran's birth record
91. Rewrite Haunted
100. Nanowrimo - 30 Nov 2009

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

But I find I have so little motivation that some of those just... weren't getting done.

So. A second attempt (or is it third by now?) to get some things done.

Much fewer this time )

Report

still fail (fuji and Kaidoh)
I'm a little late, here...

But I need to report on the goals I wanted to have done by Thursday.

1. Reread how to do HoO cards and lay them out each morning. 3/6
2. Work on keeping my inbox empty.
3. Get and record visiting teaching; redo VT routes.
    emails sent.
4. 30 minutes of exercise or Pilates everyday but Sunday - 4/6
5. Write and send letter to Jay; write the family Christmas letter.
6. Complete the [info]brigits_flame prompt by Thursday.

I didn't do too well, frankly; I meant to call on 3 Thursday night, but never quite managed (sadly, it's better for me to make phone calls early afternoon. I need to just do that).

My inbox is higher than it's been in some time, but that's because Maggie brought home a pile of school work yesterday. I need to file that, and get a new "homework file". No, I'm not keeping it all.

The family Christmas letter.... Well. It's a new thing, so no one really expects it. Thankfully!

I guess I did about 50% on that. Not great. Not even a passing grade!

Well - next time.

writer's block
We drove home today. And yes, we made it home without any throwing up!

I... didn't get any writing done today, and I have no idea how many words I was supposed to write. I had it written down somewhere, and I should find it (calendars are useful things - 1924 words a day). I also want to figure out how many words for the year, if I just write 500 words a day.

Okay, I figured it out. If I write 500 words every day, except on Sundays, it will add up to 156,500 words in the year. I should be able to do that.

The other thing I wanted to put here is what I want to accomplish this week. Yes, just this week.

1. Reread how to do the House of order cards, and lay them out each morning.
2. Work on keeping my inbox empty.
3. Get and record visiting teaching; redo VT routes.
4. 30 minutes of exercise - walking or Pilates - Every day but Sunday.
5. Write and send letter to Jay, write the family Christmas letter.
6. Complete the [info]brigits_flame prompt by Thursday.

I think that's it.

My Jillnowrimo will be my fulfilling the requests from this post (and [info]brigits_flame prompts, and the [info]potcrackxchange prompt, and [info]seouldout - so totally [info]skyangel2009's fault). It's still open, by the way. I should get them done, if nothing else, right? Everything else will be cream on top. And, yes, I will be slow.

So, it's late, and I need to go to sleep. Well, I need to clean off my bed so I can go to sleep. Night!

Okay

  • Dec. 24th, 2008 at 11:55 AM
broken
I actually came to a decision last night.

Well, two. And to those who know me, you know how amazing that is. That I could make one is pretty unbelievable.

Anyway!

One: I'm going to try something different, since I'm not getting anything done on Chance. Instead of time, I'm going to say 1-2 pages edited. I'm still doing some pretty broad edits, so that might go fast, but it might also get me to actually pull the thing out. Which I wasn't doing before.

Two: I'm going back to the wordcount a day, I think. Subject doesn't matter, as long as I get at least 500 words written. I'll try that for a while, and see if that helps. I might raise it, later, but for now this should help.

revamped part )

We'll see how this works.

I forgot

cute but evil (Ohtori)
I have posted these goals, forgetting a very important thing.

To make them S.M.A.R.T.

I have good friends who remind me of this (thank you, [info]wiccanlilly).

To recap, for me (these are from here):

S: Specific
M: Measurable
A: Attainable
R: Realistic
T: Timely

So.

Specific. As in: write at least one fic a day between now and the end of the year, exceptions for Sunday and Christmas. It doesn't even have to be on the computer. But it does need to be finished.

Measurable. I can point to it and say "that is done."

Attainable. I can write one fic a day (unless one gets away from me and gets long. In which case I'll get as much done as I can, and move on to the next one on the next day).

Realistic. Much more so than before. some days, I might be pushing myself, but that's okay, too.

Timely. In other words, by 12/31/2008.

And, the ones I really want to get done:

Fudomine: since I have the Manga out of the library. I have at least eight (I think) ideas.

I want to finish the Mafia!verse stuff, too, which means some editing, but the SiChun can wait for a bit.

And I want to write the next part of contracts.

I think that's it, so...

That's the plan. I'd best get on it.

Goal update

So, I filled in one of the empty slots on my goal list.

Social and Cultural
1. Do one Dvorak exercise a day until complete - don't rush!
   0/29
2. Work on lapghan while watching SG-1, season 2
3. Set up date to get together with E by 01/31/2009
4. Fill out passport apps, both me and Scott, by 12/31/2008
5. See an Indian movie with [info]jojoblue555, hopefully before she moves out there....
emailed her, and then realized such a question was stupid as she's going on a trip there in the next little while - I'll ask her when she gets back.
Need to find a time to get together with her
She's there now, visiting - try again when she gets back.

So, the goals. I decided to do these, since I didn't get the family room done like I wanted to while the kids were in nap time/quiet time. I suck at time management.
