I totally fail.
Last night was Activity Days, and I totally messed up.
Well, first, I forgot to call people. So that didn't help.
Second, I didn't have anything planned - it amazed me how absolutely exhausted I was by the end of the day.
One girl did show up, somewhat late, so we ended up watching "Journey to the Promised Land" from Living Scriptures. We had a somewhat scattered discussion about it - Kalinda is a wonderful girl, but she is hyper and follows every tangent that crosses her mind.
Don't get me wrong; I love her. The last ten minutes, waiting for her mother to come and pick her up, she didn't stop moving. She paced back and forth, around the table - just kept moving. It was amazing.
But I'm glad she was there.
I did mostly tell her mom that there probably wouldn't be activity days next month - I don't know if I'll manage to do anything in the next few weeks.

Oh, wow, was I tired last night. Only I couldn't get comfortable enough to actually sleep. That's the hardest part of the whole pregnancy thing; finding a way to sit / stand / lay down so I'm comfortable.
But for the most part it was a good day; I managed to get dinner on the table (with Scott's help), and we even found the color of paint for the baby's room. Not to mention a different idea than the first plan, since the first plan was basically impossible. So, since Scott is off today, he's going to work on that.
The Activity Day's girls were good - I only had five, and I think that's going to be the extent of it for a while. Two graduated (sniff), two moved (sniff), and one just had her eighth birthday to add to the girls who come regularly (Yay!). We talked a little about Easter, what it meant and what happened and why, and then did a word search. Maggie refused to go with her father to the store, so I had her, too, and it was nice. She's a good kid.
In general, though, I was pretty tired. Elyssa and I walked down to Welchester to try to deliver a coat left Wednesday night - but neither of the ladies who work there who'd been here were actually there. Still, it was a nice walk, about 1/2 mile round trip, I think, which isn't bad.
so, that was my day - not in chronological order, but all there, I think.

So, yeah - while President Hinckley was talking today, I started thinking about what I was going to do with my girls this week. Not really the best time - since it was a very good talk, and I'll go listen to it again - but I started writing some notes down.

It's the funniest thing, what crosses your mind at 12:40 in the morning.
I kept hearing Elyssa far too clearly for her to be in bed, and I was right; she was on the floor at the end of the hall (she was on the floor by her bed when I went in this morning to wake them up), and with a stinky diaper. So I changed her, went back to go back to sleep -
And remembered I had promised one of my Activity Day girls I'd call her yesterday afternoon.
Well, considering I slept a long time, and then we had that adventure, it had completely slipped my mind.
So, I need to give her a call - either right now, or as soon as she gets home from school. And firstly, apologize for not calling her, and then try (oh, try...) to answer her question.
But it was so late when I actually remembered... it was kind of funny.

I am bone tired. I'm not even sure why I'm this tired; I slept well last night (that I remember, even if I had a weird dream I don't remember much of), but I had such a hard time getting up this morning that everything ran late.
I didn't even get my scriptures read until I put Elyssa to bed the first time (it took three tries for her to go to sleep).
I managed to get a little written (very little), and had a nice talk with
skyangel2009, including a little rp.
Then I made a cake, made dinner (with a little proding from my dh), and we ate.
The girls - my activity day girls - showed up and we got started. It was... hectic. It was something of a catch up day - I just wanted to find out where the girls were and what we needed to work on.
I also did a little manipulation of the spread sheet, and I think it works out much better, now - each girl has their own page, etc. So that will help.
In all - I'm pretty happy with how it went. But I am TIRED. It's bed time for all of us.

So, yeah.
It's snowing still; but it's only cold and shouldn't be too bad. I'm going to hold Activity Days tonight anyway. If anyone else calls, I'll tell them to use their discretion about whether they want to come or not.
The activity is going to be very simple - writing a letter to someone they love, and cutting out hearts to put things they like about someone on them. Okay, a heart for each person in their family. I got some nice paper, and I got some wrapping paper to cut the hearts out from - they can write it on the white side or the red side, it's up to them.
It's a service thing: it should be okay, I think, and should help them fulfill their requirements. Which I should have been thinking of long since.
Ah, well, so it goes, right?

I think I would be completely lost without my husband - he so totally deserves to get all the credit for tonight. It worked out okay, I guess; we had six girls of a possible 10? 11? Holy cow, so many?
We wound up making Family Home Evening lessons on Joseph Smith's First Vision; I'd come up with the idea on Tuesday, but I had no idea how to impliment it.
Scott to the rescue!
I am the luckiest woman alive. I swear.
They colored the different parts of the story - trees (for the grove), Joseph Smith, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ - and then made a diarama to hold it all. We printed out the scriptures to go with it: Joseph Smith-History 1:8 - 20 and put everything in a folder.
Now we'll see if anyone actually gives the lesson. One of the girls sounded like she was really excited to do it, and one of them had already filled that requirement, but she was willing to make one anyway.
I was glad.
It's going to be challenging, I think, so we'll just have to keep working on things, right?
