Summary: Akira waits for his boyfriend.
Author's Notes: Disclaimer: Characters are owned by Konomi Takeshi, and whoever did the anime. At any rate, it's not me.
Author's Notes 2: This is based on the now defunct rp St. Benedicts; takes place in the same universe as Retribution and Anniversary. Thanks to
skyangel2009 for her portrayal of Shinji (and,
wiccanlilly, I really couldn't give up the idea of the Irish Coffee...).
AND THAT'S IT! I'M DONE!
Kamio Akira watched the exchange in some worry, his eyes on his boyfriend of… what, nearly ten years? Akira didn't know if Shinji knew who he helped right now - or even if the other boy knew who rang up his textbooks at the university bookstore - and he really didn't want to know.
Two years, and they'd be done with school. Here, at least; Shinji had a few more years, and he didn't want to do his graduate work here. Akira would be done but would stick around as much as he could. At least there were a lot of opportunities for him in Tokyo.
"You looked like you wanted to kill him," Shinji said, tapping his forehead, and Akira smiled at him.
"You're done?"
"For today, yeah," Shinji said. "Who was that?"
Akira tilted his head. "You didn't recognize him?"
"Should I have?"
The last years had done Shinji a world of good, but Akira still hesitated. "That was Izumi-senpai," he said softly, after the other boy poked him in the ribs to get him to talk.
Shinju went still, and stared at him. "It… was?"
Akira nodded, watching him in worry. "I'm pretty sure."
Shinji turned to find the student again, but the other man had disappeared. After a moment, he turned to Akira, a smile on his face. "I'm not afraid of him," he said.
Akira looked at him - not in disbelief, so much as for confirmation - and Shinji nodded. "It's true," he said quietly. "I thought I'd never… I thought I'd always be afraid of him."
Akira smiled at him, and took Shinji's arm in his own. "Well, then. That calls for a celebration. What do you want?"
"Irish coffee," Shinji said without missing a beat.
Akira laughed; he should have known. "Irish coffee it is," he said, and they left the bookstore arm in arm.
